On Dec. 8 at 3 p.m., Winterfest kicked off in the Richardson Performing Arts center.

The performance started off with the student body-membered jazz band. They performed two arrangements by Mark Taylor of “O Little Town of Bethlehem” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

The audience was then asked to sing a carol together. Audience carols were performed two more times during the show.

The South Kansas Symphony then performed the “Nutcracker Suite No. 1, Op. 71a.” Amber Peterson conducted the performance.

The Southwestern College A Cappella Choir performed three carols accompanied by the South Kansas Symphony. They sang “Angels’ Carol,” “Shepherd Carol” and “Christmas Carol” sing-along with the audience.
