The track team is looking forward to the KCAC indoor championships next weekend.
In the meantime, they traveled to Norman on the Feb. 15 to compete in the Central Oklahoma Alumni Classic.
Edward Ortiz, head track coach, said “This event was just a workout because the focus is next week. We ran people in as many events as possible and people that hadn’t ran workouts outside.”
Philip Jones, freshman, brought home a personal record in the 60m dash. Sela Anderson, business marketing freshman, beat her personal record twice in the 60m hurdles; in the prelims and finals.
“This meet was a really a good one for me, I felt very ready and prepared for my hurdle races,” said Anderson.
A few other runners looked promising; Tierny Sutton, communication senior, had a good 800m, Manny Gonzalez, senior, ran a good mile, and Brianna Hulse, sophomore ran a good 5K.
“I do feel confident knowing where to place our runners in for conference,” said Ortiz.
Following the KCAC indoor championships the NAIA indoor championships are next month. As of now only Trey White, biology freshman, has qualified for nationals; he will compete in the high jump.
