The track and field team hosted the first track meet of their outdoor season on March 10 and kicked off the season by placing in multiple events.

Bailey Collier, athletic training junior, placed first in women’s high jump, with a height of 1.65 meters. Megan Milch, biology freshman, placed third in women’s high jump, with a height of 1.57 meters.

Taylor Needham, biochemistry sophomore, received first place in the women’s 400 meter hurdles, with a time of 1:00.84.

The only team event that placed at the event was the women’s 4X400 meter relay. Their time was 4:00.57.

While the women snagged first place wins during this meet the men struggled to keep up.

Garett Britton, computer science sophomore, and Craig Lantz, computer science sophomore, were the only two men on the team to place in the top three spots for any of the events.

Lantz placed second in men’s shot put throwing it a distance of 14.52 meters. Lantz also placed in men’s discus throw, he took third place and flung the discus 43.77 meters.

Britton placed second in the men’s 110 meter hurdles with a final time of 15.17 seconds and third in men’s 400 meter hurdles with a final time of 55.08 seconds.

The next meet for track and field is the Oklahoma Baptist Open on March 26 in Shawnee, Okla.
