Freshman catcher/outfield Megan Walentynowicz has been named the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week. Walentynowicz caught the award during the first week of play after the Lady Builder softball team destroyed Hillsdale Free Will Baptist in the doubleheader 8-0 and 18-3.
The award was based after her outstanding performance during the week of March 4-10.
She played in the five Lady Builders games, including the three games at the McPherson Spring Tournament.
Walentynowicz finished being Southwestern’s most efficient batter. She registered a 53 battling percent going seven-of-13 and an impressive 92 slugging percent. Walentynowicz ended the week scoring seven runs and three RBIs.
The freshman will try and continue her extraordinary performance at the doubleheader home opener on March 13.
The softball team is hosting MidAmerica Nazarene. The first pitch of the day is scheduled at 1 p.m. The Lady Pioneers arrive with a 6-4 overall record.
