Coming off a four game win-streak to end the 2017 campaign, the Builders enter their first game against Graceland University with the momentum to start their season off strong. Along with confidence, the Builders return 35 lettermen, including their starting quarterback and leaders on defense.
The Builders, picked preseason 4th in the KCAC coaches and media polls, will host the Graceland Yellowjackets, who are picked to finish last in the Heart of America Athletic Conference north division.
The Yellowjackets of Lamoni, Iowa, are coming off a rocky 2017 where they finished 1-10, 0-5 in conference, ending the season with a 67-30 loss to Culver-Stockton College.
Graceland is led on offense by 2017 AFCA NAIA Coaches’ All-American wide receiver Caleb Thomas. Thomas was picked to the College Football America 2018 Yearbook, and is the first All-American in Graceland football history. Thomas led the nation with 158 receptions, averaging 15.8 per game, catching an NAIA single game record 27 catches against Baker in 2017.
Kick-off for the Builders season opener is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday at Richard L. Jantz Stadium.
