The Builder baseball team took on the Southwestern Christian Eagles in a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at the Broadway Recreation Complex. The Builders lost the first game 7-5 and the second 11-1, dropping their season record to 14-20.
“We had some good individual performances from Bo McSpadden, Jacob Gotchall, AJ Austin, Javier Alvarez, Ryan Jeffers and Dylan Alexander,” said Kevin Frady, head baseball coach. “I was happy to see them compete because they have not had the opportunity to get as much mound time as I was hoping for them to this point.
“We can be a really good team when we want to be, and yesterday was frustrating because I know we are capable of competing at a much higher level than we showed,” said Frady.
The Builder baseball team will play again this Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Broadway Recreation Complex, opening a three-game Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference series with York College.
“If we are to take the next step as a team like I know we are capable of, we need to continue to work hard on the little things in baseball – making routine plays, baserunning and productive at bats – and the consistency of our effort and focus,” said Frady.
