Builder Basketball secured its first conference championship in Coach O’Brien’s ere, and the first since 2005-06.

Southwestern was led to a tough victory at home by Cameron Hunt, junior guard, scoring 23 points in the 84-80 victory.

Bethany kept the game close throughout, with three lead changes between the teams in the second half. The Builders were tough on the glass, out-rebounding the Swedes 41-30, and were able to hold Bethany off by shooting 50.9% from the field. After fighting back from a 67-63 deficit, the Builders went on a 15-3 run that allowed them to hold off the Swedes until the buzzer and win the regular season KCAC championship outright.

The Builders are now 23-6 on the season, 16-5 in the KCAC, heading into the final game of the regular season. Southwestern plays Friends Saturday at 5pm, to close out their season and build momentum for the conference tournament, and look to take advantage of home-court advantage as the conference champion.
