On Saturday night, Southwestern men’s soccer team had their season opener against an experienced team in Southwestern Assemblies of God, Waxahachie, TX. The Moundbuilders ended up being outscored 4-0.

The game started off with the team showing a lot of energy. Kyle Pond, head soccer coach, said “We came in with a plan, but it wasn’t enough.”

There were seven freshman starting Saturday night. “I can start seven freshmen and they play like they have been here before,” Pond said.

To get a voice on where the team stands, Fernando Salazar, sophomore midfielder, said “We have to communicate more.”
