Football defeats Bethel for first win

The Moundbuilder Football team has had a rough year with a couple close wins but hadn’t tasted victory until now. The team traveled to north Newton to take on Bethel College Saturday and left with a win 14-10.

The game was a second half game with a score of 0-0 at half time. During the third quarter, the Threshers recorded a 3-point field goal that started the scoring frenzy. The Builders then recording two touchdowns while the Threshers could only get one.

Christian Gordon, sophomore quarterback, tallied 323 offensive yards while Tanner Spencer, freshman wide receiver, had 107 yards and two interceptions. The defense also played sharp with Joey Scelza, junior linebacker, getting a total of 16 tackles.

This game moved the Builders’ conference record to 1-4. Ottawa University is scheduled to travel to Jantz Stadium for the next game on Saturday, Oct. 29. The game is set for 1:30 pm.
