Cross country has mixed results in Missouri

The Southwestern College’s Cross Country team headed down to Missouri Southern State University on Saturday for their second race of the year.  The girls ran their longest race yet, a 5k (3.1 miles) and the guys ran an 8k (5 miles).

The girls were led by Justine Vogele, sports medicine sophomore, who placed tenth overall with a time of 19:41. Not far behind was Ashley Smith, psychology junior, with a time of 20:07.

For the guy’s race, things got a little more hectic when one of SC’s runners, Jacob Moyo, junior, was injured and became dehydrated in the final stretch. However, when he could no longer run, another one of his teammates, Jacob Anders, junior, helped him to the finish line.

“It was the first time I had to help someone across the finish line,” Jacob Anders had said.

Jersey Boydstun, sports marketing junior, lead the guys off with a time of 27:05, placing 16th overall.
