Cross Country opens season at J.K. Gold Classic

The men’s and women’s cross country team opened their season at the J.K. Gold Classic in Augusta. The race was hosted by Wichita State University.

On the women’s side, Justine Vogele, sophomore, placed 21st in the 4k circuit with a time of 15:47.5. Ashley Smith, junior, placed 27th with 16:30.4 and Tierney Sutton, freshman, placed 45th with a time of 18:45.2.

The men ran in the 6k race at the J.K. Gold Classic with Jersey Boydstun, junior, placing highest at 23rd place with a time of 20:25.2. Following Boydstun was Devin Hlavenka, senior, in 35th with 21:26.8, Jacob Anders, junior, in 40th with 21:46.3, and Jack Berry, freshman, in 53rd with a time of 26:55.3.

The team will compete next at the Missouri Southern Stampede on Sept. 17 in Joplin, Missouri.
