Tennis teams secure spot at KCAC Tournament

Both men’s and Women’s Tennis overcame Ottawa’s hard hits to win 6-3. Both Ottawa and Southwestern were ready to fight for the win.

Some key wins for the men’s team were:

Doubles team Josh Ellis, math junior, and Blake Cherry, business freshman, won 8-4.
Cherry won in singles 6-4, 6-2.
Logan Bevis, history education senior, won his singles match 6-2, 6-1.
Braden Baker, history junior, won 6-2, 6-4 in his match.

For the women’s team:

Doubles teams Morgan Hughes, biology education sophomore, and Anna Mankoski, psychology sophomore, won 8-3 while next to them Savannah Caro, biology junior, and Sadie Pfau, biology junior, won 9-7.
Sydney Shields, psychology sophomore, won in singles 6-2, 6-1.
Mankoski also won her singles game 6-4, 6-2.
Jerlecia Thompson, liberal arts and sciences sophomore, won 7-6, 6-2.

These results put the women’s team as the second seed and the men as the fourth seed going into the KCAC tournament starting next week. The last regular game of the season is scheduled for 10 a.m. April 23  at Bethel College.
