Women’s basketball clenches first win of the season

Women’s basketball walked away with their first win of the 2015-2016 season against Southwestern Christian University on Oct. 31. The Builders slid past the Eagles 69-63 putting the team at 1-1 in the season.

The Lady Builders began the game with a 12-8 lead heading into the end of the first quarter but the Eagles managed to pull ahead. At the end of the first quarter, the game was at 15-14 with the Eagles in the lead.

Going into the second quarter, the Builders reclaimed their lead against the Eagles coming up to 16-15. By halftime, the Builders were falling again 33-27.

The third quarter saw a 52-44 lead by the Eagles but the Builders pushed back in the final minutes and ended up with the 69-63 win over SCU.

This was the first win for new head coach, Whitney Corley.

The Lady Builders will play again at 6 p.m. on Nov. 5 against Northwestern Oklahoma State.
