Seth Bryan, business management junior, shot his way to his second straight KCAC Conference Championship title at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City. Bryan carded a 69-70-67—206. His third round score of 67 was the lowest of the tournament. This low score cushioned his lead as he let the entire field by at least 10 strokes.
Bryan said, “The feeling is bittersweet. I’m very happy with my play this week, but losing a chance to go as a team by three shots really stings.”
The Builders beat Bethany College 883-888 after three rounds at the KCAC Conference Championship. After the points are added to the KCAC Regular Season Tournament, the Builders fall three shots shy of Bethany. Bethany claimed first place with a combined score of 1788, while the Builders take second carding a 1761.
Following Bryan by 11 strokes is Shane Gilbert, business administration senior. Gilbert finished in third with a card score of 72-72-73—217, trailing second place by 1 stroke.
Gilbert said, “I feel like there were a few holes that I could’ve capitalized on. All it took was one and I would’ve got second. I wish I made a few more shots, but I’m happy to cheer on Seth as he goes to Nationals.”
Justin Churchill, business junior, Brian Peck, business sophomore and Jake Henson, business management senior also carded scores for the builders.
Churchill said, “I’m disappointed that our season ends today. I would do anything to play in another tournament. I’m looking forward to seeing how Seth does in Florida.”
